We were living the American dream with a mother, father, son and daughter. We even had the dog and cat. So you can imagine when I found out I was pregnant again how surprised and shocked we were. One thing was for sure we needed that addition to our home to be done sooner than we expected. And the idea of a mini split heat pump was becoming more of a reality.

Having carpenters, HVAC engineers and electricians in the family I was hoping it would not be a complete takeover of my home during the construction phase. I was hoping for a very simple transition of moving bedrooms around once all was completed.

We had been talking about an addition once the children got a bit older, but with the new one on the way we had to move fast. My husband had already mapped it out and advised a mini split heat pump would be the way to go for heat and air for the new add on.

Mainly because it was just not feasible to get an entirely new unit for the entire house for one more room. He told me that a mini split heat pump is fairly easy to install in the long run you really only need maybe a 3 inch hole in the wall piece.

The biggest issue with installing it to me was how to cover it, from what I have been told the appearance of the indoor parts are pretty unsightly. I just did not want that to be plainly obvious that it was not matching the rest of the house.

Unfortunately there are not very many qualified installers in our area, so we were glad when my brother in law said he has had experience installing them and can instruct the rest of the guys how to assist him.

So great, now the room is going up and I can see walls and drywall and ceiling. I feel a sense of relief when I know that using a mini split heat pump will not only offer heat and cool in the room but it also has fairly low maintenance to it. Truly there is no more than a general heat pump.

I have since moved my oldest daughter into the new addition where the mini split heat pump was installed. Then my son into her room and the new addition is in my oldest daughter’s room. My oldest daughter has had absolutely no complaints regarding the warmth or coolness of the room. It seems to be running perfectly and keeping everyone satisfied.
